Kodak Kiosk prints from facebook and picasa

If you haven't printed out your photos at a local kiosk in a while (like me), you may be surprised to find a Kodak one that is social-network friendly.

I got a chance to test one out at the CES 2011 show using some facebook pictures.  You basically enter in your facebook login and it connects you to your facebook photos - sorry, no friend's albums.  If you have a lot of albums and photos, be prepared to be at the Kiosk a while as you search through them.  I didn't want to spend a lot of time so I just picked ones that used to be my profile pictures and used one of their smart frames which intelligently places and crops a designated number of photos on a printout to match the frame perfectly.

A couple of tips:

1. Print them out small if from facebook.  A lot of your old facebook pictures were uploaded in low resolution (that was all that was supported for a while), so your pictures won't come out looking the best.  Keep the printouts small.

2. Organize the photos you may want to print in its own album.  The Kiosks might be internet connected, but they are somewhat slow to browse and load.  Keeping them in the same album makes selecting the photos a lot easier.

Using a smart frame template. Final resultThe quality leaves something to be desired - even when compared to what you can print out at home on an inkjet.  Still it's fast and convenient.  And my sample included a foam picture frame to boot (optional).

It's been out for a while, and you can find one near you here: Kodak kiosks near you.  Make sure you choose one that is connected to your web albums.
