My first 'Living' Picture

Coined a 'Fixel' by Flixel Photos Inc.  As you can see, its essentially a moving picture where the creator can decide what part to allow to 'move' based on the original video.  This took all of 5 minutes to make - including the 10 second shoot using the software for the first time.

It's on sale right now for $14.99 (which they say is 92.5% off original price).  I'm definitely going to have some fun with this.

Zdnet writes about being a Windows 7 pirate

People have been pirating Microsoft Windows since the beginning.  Today is no different, except that the battle between the pirates and Microsoft has gotten more advanced with the pirates currently taking the lead as this Zdnet story tells about his successful pirating for Microsofts best operating system to date.

No, its not a how-to.  Its a story, but it has many clues as to what to search for to do it.

There is a good lesson to be learned though: the integrity of your computer system may be compromised with malware, root-kits and other nasty things if you sail through pirate infested waters.

You've heard about Bing! But do you know about Microsoft 'Labs' other FREE stuff for photographers?

Most recently I've tried out:

Microsoft Pro Photo Tools for geotagging and ITPC tagging.

Microsoft Photosynth for a 3D experience.  This is a very interesting proof of concept which I look forward to pulling out my old photographs for.  Wow - just check it out.

Microsoft Image Composite Editor for Panos.

Microsoft Live Photo Gallery.

These tools are all FREE, and I'm definitely recommending any photographer to add these to their software arsenal.

Microsoft Vista (and Windows Server 2008) Service Pack 2 available

It 'quietly' was released yesterday.  I'm currently downloading all 1.7 GB of it to burn on DVD for installation now.

Its going to be a pain for anyone who has a bad service pack 1 installation.  I have one such laptop that is going to be a problem, but I was planning on re-installating the entire system anyway.

Digsby combines Trillian + Email + Social Networking IM for FREE

Well free doesn't mean there isn't some cost.  Digsby does show you ads which aren't too bad, and I'm pretty picky about such things.  Still a small price to pay to combine everything in one application.

When you install make sure you decline all the extra toolbars and applications (except maybe FFDShow which is good to have).  Read what each screen says carefully before you click next, accept, deny though.
